Rhinomate
For patients with chronic rhino sinusitis or hay fever, intranasal medicine is a cornerstone of treatment. Using a nasal spray seems simple, yet almost no one gets it right. When incorrectly administered, these medicines can’t reach the part of the nasal cavity where they can have a functional effect. In addition, their repeated application directly to the septum can cause nosebleeds and perforations, requiring further treatment.
The Inspiration Behind the Innovation
A lot of intranasal medicines are available over the counter, eliminating the possibility of hands-on instruction – and online information from major manufacturers often shows incorrect dosing techniques. However, even after proper instruction, most patients continue to administer their nasal medication incorrectly.
The Innovation
Rhinomate is a small alteration of the standard nasal spray bottle. It adds a simple aiming mechanism that encourages proper aiming of the nozzle without compromising the spray’s pumping mechanism.
In Denmark, chronic rhino sinusitis affects 12 percent of the adult population while 20–30 percent are affected by hay fever. Rhinomate can help these patients find optimal relief by facilitating the correct administration of intranasal medicine, thereby ensuring its effectiveness while preventing adverse effects.
